Ambrozia Bar and Bistro is the dream of chef/owner Sam Etheridge. Sam and his family had decided to relocate from Albuquerque, NM to Asheville, NC to be closer to their family and roots in east Tennessee with the idea in mind of opening a restaurant. After settling in North Asheville near Beaver Lake, he had decided that this was the perfect neighborhood for his idea of a cozy neighborhood bistro with a wine focused bar. After kicking around a few names, Sam decided that a reincarnation of his previous restaurant, Ambrozia Café and Wine Bar, was where his heart was and decided to revitalize the award winning restaurant concept but with a southern twist.
Ambrozia Café and Wine Bar was located in the Old Town neighborhood in Albuquerque, Nm and enjoyed many years of success both critically and personally. Ambrozia staff was a big family whom several decided to join Sam in his new venture. Jamal Davis joined as Wine steward and manager while holding the same roles in the New Mexico restaurant and also in Sam’s other restaurant in Albuquerque, Nob Hill Bar and Grill. Paul Muench also relocated from New Mexico after previously working with Sam at five different restaurant locations. Upon opening, Marin Mitchell from Asheville joined the team as pastry chef and Erica Imhoff as production chef.
The focus at Ambrozia is a farm to table menu that evolves with availability and the seasons. The menu is heavily southern influenced but will also feature some southwestern, Caribbean, Asian, and European flair from Sam’s different experiences as a chef.
The bar is wine focused, featuring hand-picked food friendly wines. Craft beers and creative cocktails will also be available at the hand crafted bar.
Whether coming to enjoy a multiple course meal or just stopping by for a drink, we want all our customers to feel the same family atmosphere that the employees have at Ambrozia Bar & Bistro.
The “Got To Be NC”Competition Dining Seriesis unlike any other dinner experience in the country! Taste course-by-course during a series of 8 to 15 dinner competitions hosted infive regions of the state throughout the year. Each evening, two restaurants battle it out side by side in a single elimination, blind dinner format. As our guest, you get to savor a six-course menu (three courses from each chef without knowing whose food you’re tasting) created around a "Mystery" North Carolina ingredient. The ingredient is revealed to the chefs at noon the day of their battle and it must be used in each of their three courses.
